St. John’s Church is one of the earliest examples of the work of the Derby Architect Henry Isaac Stevens and was consecrated at the very start of the Victorian period. It is Listed Grade II.
Peter Rogan has been involved in two separate phases of work at St. John’s, both funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The first phase included the consolidation and re-roofing of the tower and provision of new below-ground drainage.
Further work in 2015 work has also included the re-slating of roofs and provision of new rainwater goods as well as general repointing of stonework.
Plans are now being formulated for a re-ordering project to include new flooring, seating and heating systems.
