St. Bartholomew’s is the only surviving building of the now deserted village of Welby, just outside Melton Mowbray. Heritage Lottery Funding has allowed the church to be re-roofed, stonework repaired, drainage to be improved, and for a new toilet to be built on the north side of the church. As well as remaining as a place of worship, the church is also a centre for the interpretation and learning about the lost village of Welby.
